On Monday, the Butler Bulldogs offered Lawrence Central point guard Nijel Pack–who’s a Class of 2020 recruit:
The 6’0″, 165 pound point guard is a 3-star recruit according to 247.com–having also already received offers from Belmont, Bradley, and Indiana State among other schools. Big Ten schools have also shown interest, as Iowa is a strong suitor for Pack, while Purdue has ‘sniffed around’.
Pack could be poised to shoot up rankings after a strong showing with the Indy Heat in the EYBL Circuit in Atlanta:
Pack averaged 16.5 ppg, 4.1 apg, 4.0 rpg, and 2.0 spg in 25 games as a junior last season for Lawrence Central.
The Bulldogs need another strong floor leader no later than 2021, as soon-to-be junior starting point guard Aaron Thompson will graduate after the 2020 season.
Having Pack play behind and learn the ropes from Thompson for a season might be an ideal situation for the Bulldogs, instead of having to start a freshman point guard a year later.
Head coach LaVall Jordan has also made offers to Chicago product (Whitney Young high school) and 4-star recruit, Tyler Beard, as well as intriguing international point guard Santiago Vescovi from the NBA Academy Latin America.
It could be a matter of which highly touted point guard recruit accepts first because there’s a great opportunity for the ‘early bird’ to be the Bulldogs eventual starting point guard going forward for the program.
