On Monday, the Butler Bulldogs offered Homestead High School (Fort Wayne, Indiana) shooting guard Luke Goode:
The 6’5″, 175 pound shooting guard has also received offers from Iowa and IUPUI, while Purdue and Wisconsin-Green Bay have expressed interest.
Goode is considered a 4-star recruit by 247sports.com, as he averaged 14.9 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.4 apg in 24 games as a sophomore.
Goode is highly regarded for his size, shooting, and ability to see the floor. He also can score both on-and-off the dribble. However, he could withstand to improve his assertiveness in taking the ball to the rim at times.
He’s a member of the Indy Heat 2021 AAU team–along with another high school recruit Butler is heavily targeting, prized big man Caleb Furst:
LaVall Jordan and his coaching staff seem to be targeting recruits early in the process, which makes sense given that Butler is often competing against top Big Ten schools for the more highly touted national recruits.
It could be a winning philosophy: show strong interest and conviction early on and look at ways to build lasting relationships with top recruits.
Butler has incoming 4-star freshman Khalif Battle as ‘the near future’ at SG, but Goode has the size to effectively play SF–once he gets stronger and worst case, would have his last two seasons to potentially start at SG for the Bulldogs.
Goode would be a big get for Butler and hopefully, he enjoyed his visit at Hinkle Fieldhouse–making it a memorable one.
