The 6’5″, 175 pound Naperville, Illinois, product has also received offers from Illinois-Chicago and Southern Illinois, while Iowa has expressed interest.
“Neuqua Valley small forward John Poulakidas is one of the top 2021 prospects in the state,” writes Burgess.
“He has outstanding size for position along with a big time skill set. The 6’5” small forward has long arms and an angular build. Looks like he has room to grow. Poulakidas is in the process of adding strength onto his frame. He is a big time perimeter sniper with his catch and shoot shot along with just pulling up in transition. The athleticism is starting to show more. Can block a shot on occasion and is becoming more assertive on the offensive glass. Puts it on the deck and overall has a sound feel for the game.”
Here’s a clip of Poulakidas’ impressive game:
The Bulldogs offered another Class of 2021 wing, JR Konieczny, on Monday, so they’re clearly being aggressive right now–before potential power 5 conference schools could get involved.
That’s key in order to build relationships early on with recruits in order to ultimately be “the last program standing”.
Butler could use some impact shooters, as Paul Jorgensen graduated while Sean McDermott will be entering his redshirt senior season. Another Butler shooter, Jordan Tucker, also is set to graduate in 2021.
In the not too distant future, Poulakidas could definitely help fill some of that pure shooting void for the Bulldogs.
He’s a recruit clearly on the rise as of late.
