Game Preview: Morehead State Eagles vs. Butler Bulldogs

The Butler Bulldogs will host the Morehead State Eagles on Friday night, 7 PM EST (FS1) at Hinkle Fieldhouse for the second of their Hall of Fame Classic on-campus games.

The Eagles are 4-1 and coming off a 70-52 loss against the Missouri Tigers, the latter who the Bulldogs will square off against on Monday.

Morehead State is ranked #243 by KenPom, while Butler has climbed its way to a somewhat surprising early season ranking of #22 overall.

For what it’s worth, the Eagles were projected to finish tied for 6th in the OVC by the Media Poll.

Senior guard Jordan Walker (from local Cathedral High School) is the Eagles’ leading scorer, averaging 13.8 ppg to go along with 3.6 rpg and 2.4 apg.

One of the Eagles’ other key contributors so far this season has been junior forward James Baker, who’s put up 12.4 ppg, 4.6 rpg, and 1.4 apg.

The Eagles have some size and are one of the OVC’s defensive leaders, allowing 61.3 avg. ppg. (3rd) and .375 oFG% (.372).

Still, this is a game the 4-0 Butler Bulldogs are highly expected to win and really should win at home.

The Bulldogs will need this one to fine tune and get in “mid-season” form earlier than normally necessary–as their next 5 games following will be against “Power 5” conference schools.
